Swap old iPad for new iPad

I have the last generation iPad that is factory sealed. I was thinking about ordering a new iPad (same color & storage size) and when I receive the new ipad, I would contact Best Buy, Walmart, or whichever store I order from and tell them that they sent me the wrong model. Am I not considering something that would cause this not to work?

There are a few other methods available - obviously the DNA, wrong Item received, (packaging permitted) the sealed box.
